Lots of photography and other images of mine went into this. It's a technique I've come to love, and in no way does it replace good drawing, but enhances it. These are techniques I go over in great detail in my classes...the next course starts July 8th in Los Angeles: http://www.laafa.org/sessions/classes_details.php?id=57&class_id=2470&cat_id=4
But it didn't take me eight months to complete, but then again, in a way it did. I've learned so much since then.
It started at Revelations, the Conceptart.org workshop...it was an amazing scene....all the big guns of the concept art world, among them Andrew Jones and Jason Chan challenging each other in what they called Thunderdome..massive screens with real time digital painting happening, in a massive room filled with 500 artistic freaks, and 50 artistic freak instructors!!
